About Ali Uni
A free, independent guide to American universities and college studies.
Ali Uni exists for one reason: to make the path through American higher education easier to understand. Choosing a college, applying, paying for it and succeeding once you arrive involves hundreds of decisions, and most students make them with incomplete information. We publish clear, practical guides that help students and families make those decisions with confidence.
Who we write for
Our readers are mostly American high school juniors and seniors, current college students, students thinking about transferring, adult learners returning to school, and the parents and mentors who support them. Every guide is written so a first-generation college student — someone without a parent who has been through the process — can follow it from start to finish.
What we cover
- Choosing a college: types of institutions, fit, outcomes and value.
- Admissions: timelines, the Common App, essays, recommendations and decisions.
- Financial aid: the FAFSA, Pell Grants, scholarships, work-study and loans.
- Academics: majors, credits, transfer pathways and study skills.
- Campus life and careers: wellbeing, involvement, internships and life after graduation.
How we research
We rely on primary, authoritative sources wherever possible — for example the U.S. Department of Education and StudentAid.gov, the National Center for Education Statistics, the College Board, and colleges' own official websites. Numbers that change from year to year, such as aid limits or average tuition, are labeled with the year they apply to. When rules change, we update the article and show the updated date at the top.
Our independence
Ali Uni is not affiliated with any college, university, testing company or government agency. Schools cannot pay to be ranked or recommended. The site may display advertising to cover its costs; advertisers have no influence over what we write, and ads are always clearly separated from our content.
